BT cable datalogging - problems with several values simultaneously
I have the BT cable for several months and it works very well with code clearing. Recently I also wanted to use it for datalogging purposes; I have the most recent software version (1.7.7.1) that I downloaded last week from the Bavarian Technic website. I use it on an Asus EEE PC netbook under Windows 7.
However, when trying to do some datalogging last evening I ran into a number of problems which seem to be caused by the BT software: After clicking on "Actual Values" and selecting one value (e.g. oil temp), the graph and numerical value appeared, just as it should (and I could also export such value to an Excel sheet). However, upon selecting a second value to be logged simultaneously, the data stopped flowing completely for both values and neither on the graph nor on the digital value display any figure was displayed anymore; it almost seemed as if the software wasn't receiving any data anymore. When restarting the program or first clicking on "fault codes" and then again on "Actual Values", I could get again get one value to be displayed, but upon choosing a second one the same problem happened again - all values stopped being displayed, and also stopping and restarting the logging (F6) didn't change anything. Displaying several graphs at the same time doesn't work either, by the way, as I got some unintelligible error message when trying that ("numerical xyz error"). Now, a datalogging function that cannot display several values at the same time is rather useless. Has anyone already encountered the same problem or has any idea what may cause it and how it could be resolved? Thanks, Alpina_B3_Lux

I love the BT concept, but their inability to get any realistic logging rate is unacceptable. The checksum errors are rediculous and constant. They won't respond to our requests to improve the program with things like coding new fuel injectors. The reality is they are playing themselves completely out of the game. Once the the JB4 logs timing, the program will be useless other than to code clear.
BT really needs to clean up their business model before they are completely pushed out of the game and useless to a big N54 community. |

The actual values logging of the BT tool is processor intensive. Not sure it's your problem, but I'd be surprised if you get adequate sample rates with the Atom. I upgraded laptops last year and my sample rate went from 5-10 per second to 20-25. They have been good about responding to my emails - you might try to contact them directly.

I still feel the BT is a valuable tool for those who plan to keep their cars for a while/do their own service & repairs but the datalogging feature has definitely become less attractive. |

And yes, I also sent an e-mail to BT, but thought it appropriate to also post it here to see whether others have the same problem and/or a solution to it. Reassuring to know it doesn't only happen to me. Although I can't even log two values at the same time. Alpina_B3_Lux
