he should... on extended test drives just remind your advisor to make sure the tech brings it back to the level you left it with.. there should be no argument about that ..

plus the tech has to take the repair order with him when he drives the car.. so he'll be able to see how much to put back.....

This is just a suggestion but i was talking to a tek here in germany and he said that the fuel pumps you get in the states might not be up to bmw standards. i would suggest finding a german hpfp. believe it or not, not every bmw is built in munich. i have been driving my car hard as hell and have 33,000 miles on it and have never had an issue. I dont know how easy it would be to get one but i would look into it.

How is HPFP affecting resale/trade-in of 335i and 135i? I read somewhere that depreciation is around US$8K-10K for those models..

lol, so i went to pick up my car today after both Vanos Solenoids were replaced..

So they put 155miles on my car!!! , so as my SA pulls my car up i see i have a Range of about 10miles loooolll, She says warranty doesn't cover gas, so i told her thats soo fucked up (me and my SA are tight) after a few more minutes talking to her she comes back with a gas card and i got to fill up my tank for free

Got my new 933 fuel pump this week, at 43K kms. Is this model the latest?

Also, Bmw folks told me they might have put in 100 kms, apparently this is because other problems might arise shortly after fuel pump change, such as solenoids etc, up to the turbos. Just wanted to share this for folks whose car were driven a bit more than anticipated.

Fuel pump change is also coupled with reprogramming, does anyone know if that means complete DME software update?

Yes the DME programming is fully updated. Yes it's common for injectors, then sprakplugs, then ignition coils to fail shortly after the HPFP failure.
thats if the car completely died correct? if the HPFP was replaced proactively, then the plugs, coils and injectors should be ok?

Not necessarily - coils / injectors / turbos can still go bad following the install of software and or 933 pump.
As mentioned elsewhere the required software update and re-built pump is a complete bandaid until the new HPFP is released next month.

NOT TRUE!! Post one invoice showing a failed 943 or 933 pump. I have searched many forums for days and can't find even one.

Can someone who knows please explain how many of these Vanos solenoids there are, where they are, and more importantly, what their job is? Thanks!

I'm looking at a new HPFP this week (replacing original, with 12,500 miles on 2008).

This is the first I've heard about other problems after replacement - fuel injectors, solenoids, etc. Can someone provide more detail on this? I'm in the middle of a vacation, already had the car go into limp mode on the interstate, and am not inclined to end up with another trip to the dealer following a highway breakdown.

Let me know, thanks folks.
