Split Center Armrest
I finally got my split armrest installed. Very easy install thanks to the excellent DIY.
I'm pretty happy with it - a little more comfortable rest for the shifting arm. Also, the armrest comes with a spring mechanism so it opens slowly when the latch is released and stays open - no more slamming closed. Got it at Crown for $245 shipped.

Thanks. That center console has been modded to the max. I think that completes the mods for me (except maybe the sway bars). Time for another drive - I may try to go to Bimmerfest this year. Say hi to Jen!

You know Capt., I never added that little spring in. Maybe I should. Sounds like it works very nicely.

Yeah, Michael its an easy add-on. Only drawback I can see is the armrest will not stay down unless latched so it could be a problem for those who are running cables out of the center storage for an iPod, phone, etc..

What's in the mtech kit? I saw this MSport in HNL on the lot one day. I'm not sure I like the front - I like the stock look. Like I told Ryan, Barrique Red IS a mod in it's own right. ![]()

OK, I was wondering if the MSport kit and the MTech kit are the same thing.

i always wanted to get the split armrest, i may really consider it now
looks great and the fact that it has the spring that opens the armrest makes me want it more. i hate the stock one, if you accidentaly let go of it, it slams, and sounds like it may break |

just my 2 cents, i installed it on my 335 Coupe... the installation on the coupe is a pain in the arse... starts with removing the backseat and slowly terrorizes every component on the way forward to the armrest. Just be forwarned, doable, but work intensive and time consuming.
But damn that spring was necessary... no more slamming.

Humm, saw one at the dealer here in Germany....no spring. I'll have to take another look.
