I assume you mean the sound insulation on the underside of the bonnet.

BMW scrapped this from March 09 production onward simply to save money - for themselves.

To be honnest i been looking ages for this liner, seems to be very rare to find second hand.
My car is 56 and has not got one as well.
Just bought form ebay yesterday £24 delivered.

I been reading purpose for bonnet liners, first its for sound insulation, second on high perfomance cars it protects bonnet from heating, which can damage paintwork.

Bakili - your profile says Doncaster, but there's a distinct hint of Borat in the way you type

Eh?

I have a brand new E90 on the drive, it got the same under bonnet insulation piece as my 2006 E92 model.

Got under bonnet insulation on my Sept 09 delivery 320D, but was'nt on my Sept delivery 05 320i, which had a very quite and smooth engine from tick-over and upwards, don't think it needed it!

I've always ripped my bonnet insulation out on previous cars, so I can hear the sound of the engine better and save some weight. But never dreamed that heat from the engine might do damage to the paintwork... maybe I ought to leave the insulation on this time
