I assume you mean the sound insulation on the underside of the bonnet.
BMW scrapped this from March 09 production onward simply to save money - for themselves. |

My car is 56 and has not got one as well. Just bought form ebay yesterday £24 delivered. I been reading purpose for bonnet liners, first its for sound insulation, second on high perfomance cars it protects bonnet from heating, which can damage paintwork.

Bakili - your profile says Doncaster, but there's a distinct hint of Borat in the way you type

I have a brand new E90 on the drive, it got the same under bonnet insulation piece as my 2006 E92 model. |

Got under bonnet insulation on my Sept 09 delivery 320D, but was'nt on my Sept delivery 05 320i, which had a very quite and smooth engine from tick-over and upwards, don't think it needed it!

I've always ripped my bonnet insulation out on previous cars, so I can hear the sound of the engine better and save some weight. But never dreamed that heat from the engine might do damage to the paintwork... maybe I ought to leave the insulation on this time
