Catch CAN Question ?
Kindof confused does it matter if a catchcan is filtered inside or just a hollow can seen many on the market especially ebay. Also on the hollow cans there is no inner and out direction when mountin hoses. I personally have a hollow can but was thinkin of placing a filter element on the inside. Would like some feedback on this if possible..

^ To catch Blow by oil. Majority of 335 have a issue with it. Hence he wants to make sure his CP , FMIC etc arent filled with oil at the end of the day.

im not a noob to turbo. blow by is created by shitty ring sealing...i know that. i own an upgraded boosted vehicle that has a regular PCV system with no catch can. its even routed back to the suction side of the system and i dont burn oil...oh yea for the record its a 28r turbo running 26psi so there is plenty of air movement going on. im alway up for being educated tho so i will go and read those threads on the oil OCC for bmw's

they are not hollow, there is material to help catch the blow by and thus i believe after some time you need to change the cartridge.... i think andrew was working on something for replacement filters a little while ago...

Which is not about the blowby this I know,is was whether a catchcan works hollow or should have some type of bafflin becuase of the market out there on OCC's thanks again.

The empty one's are useless... There should be something in there whether its a filter or steel wool....

Hollow catch cans work, there are pics in the forum showing the Riss Racing CC with plenty of oil in it, but they're not as effective as the kind with a built in separator. Here's a pic of one with a 5 micron element to separate the oil and air...
