335i M Sport Lead Time, Discounts
Hi,
Thinking of ordering a new E90 335i M Sport. Any idea on how long it will be to arrive if I ordered today? Also, been looking at internet brokers - broadpseed, coast2coast, drivethedeal, autoebid. Not all seem to discuss part exchange, I'm guessing from Broadspeed's mention of it that I won't get a similar p/x to what a dealer would offer me if I was buying a used car off their forecourt - am I correct in that? If that's the case then the discount is really only applicable to cash buyers - because p/x are likely to get a similar amount knocked off their p/x !? I did do a p/x valuation on one of the sites and it was pitifully low - equivalent almost to the discount on the new car offered. Thanks for any input. Paul |

I ordered at the end of Jan - I'm still waiting , but hopefully will be here mid April
Broadspeed prices are based on Inchcape dealerships i.e Cooper http://www.cooperbmw.co.uk/ Print off your quote from Broadspeed and take it to one of the dealers who should match/beat the price. Best advice - sell privately! You either get a good trade in or discount - rarely both. Good luck |

Many thanks. So as I said - it isn't really a discount unless you are a cash buyer. You should be able to get a "good" trade-in from your dealership against a new/used car presumably. So if the discount people give you a "bad" trade-in (and the one I saw almost wiped out the discount) - what's the point unless you are a cash buyer?
I'm a bit nervous about selling privately e.g. test pilots, something going awry with the money (heard nightmare stories about that). |

I was, but its worth it - I sold my Accord Type R for about £2500 over book price! Only let someone test drive if they have proof of insurance - if they are serious then they will get cover. I sold via http://www.pistonheads.com/ - it went in only 8 days! |

Just ordered a 335d M Sport for mid-may delivery thru coast2coastcars. Got 11.5% discount. Will hopefully sell my own car in April some time.

The thing with selling privately though is the aggro. There's the inconvenience of not having a car for a while. Then there's the question of payment when your selling a £20K car. Then the guy comes back and says you sold him a pup.
We managed 8% discount from our local dealer and the top trade in price for our old car, so we were happy and there was no fuss. Regards Chris

Ordered 335 M Sport Conv on Monday, no discount but good trade in.

Sold 4 of cars privatley on Autotrader - so far never had a problem. - My last car - e46 330 sport coupe, I got £2k more than I would have trading it in for 335i.
Insist on seeing insurance docs and make it clear you will only accept cash - and go with them on test drives! With the dealers offering up to 12% discount on a new e90 335i its a lot of cash to throw away by trading in

So people actually turn up with say 18k in cash ?!
How do you know it isn't fake? I'm more tempted to use an escrow service or insist that any banker's draft clears. I read a nightmare story of a guy who sold his M3, went to bank with purchaser and bank accepted the bankers draft, then about a week later said it was a fake and wouldn't honour/withdrew the funds ! He ended up 20odd thousand down. |

In terms of lead time, drove a 335d today at a dealer and he looked on his system and said I could get a 335i by the end of April if he changed the spec on another dealer's order which was sat on there. I was quite impressed by that as people seem to have been waiting months for cars.
