So I waxed my stock 162s today and was getting ready to switch them with the snows I'm still running. Found this in my driver-side rear tire.
Looks like a small nail that's gone in right at the edge of the tread. The top is worn flush with the tire. The tires have been stored in my basement since October/November, and the pressure is fine... so it looks like it didn't puncture the tire -- or that it's completely sealing the hole. I'm going to take it up to the tire shop tomorrow and see what they say; but what's your thoughts? - Leave it alone and just see what happens. - Pull it out and hope for the best. - Pull it out and hope to patch it if it has gone through... but then I run into the issue of trying to remount a RFT.

Take it out and get it patched. There is no need to get a new tire like a lot of people do. I had a 1/4 inch lag bolt in my right rear tire. I had it patched. That was 12,000 miles ago. The tire place did have a bit of a time getting the tire off and back on thr rim. Take it to a tire store that sells bridgestone RFTs.

just make sure that whom ever you take it to is an authorized rft center.

Took it to Belle Tire today...
I don't think they've ever seen a tire that size, let alone a RFT. ![]() Four of the tire grunts were standing around looking at it, I grabbed the manager, and said "they are aware it's a RFT, and they do know what they're doing. right?" He went out to direct/supervise them. Ended up that the nail was just in the tread and did not puncture the tire. They pulled it out, checked the pressure and sent me on my way. Although they did scratch my rim  ![]()
