Track Day @ Willow Springs (Horse Theif Mile CW) 3/11/2007
This is my first post of to the E90 community, and I just wanted to say hello to everyone. I know there is a handfull of people wondering how the 335i would perform on the track here are my results.
keep in my mind i am not a track expert - - just a novice http://speedventures.com/3-10-2007_event.asp *under results go to event results -> 3/11/2007 Horse Theif Mile CW/overall results-> click submit* my timing name is "m3 alphaq" my 07 335i sedan MT has - sport suspension, h&r race springs, front strut bar (BMW), 162 wheels w/ runflats, black lines, rear spoiler, 2.5" piping no mid mufflers no resonators just 2 straight through design with extreme mufflers and magnaflow tips. (Long Tran just recorded a video clip of my car reving @ idle which he will be posting soon), and PRocede will be delivered by next week . hopefully, if Calvin is telling the truth. First time being on that track and First time tracking my 335i. I had an instructor drive my car while i was in the psngr seat to give me a dozen pointers. Instructor ran a best time of 01:08.795 while having trouble shifting into 3rd gear for some reason. my best time was 01:07.409. the times are not consistent to due to track rules such as limited passing zones, basically only on long straights with a point-by by the driver being passed, debree on the track, or even cars coming off the course. I ran my car for 5 sessions. each session usually lasting 17 -19 laps/25- 30 mins. day temp was about 87 deg. the car handled great. the course was more technical due to huge elevation changes and tight turns. one thing i admired about the 335i is its smooth driveablity compared to my 2004 e46 m3 (sold recently). even though its a peg leg the car handles superbly on turns. my friend has a e46 m3 was actually impressed when he follwed behind me. His TIMING NAME is BS - - best lap time 01:08.294 w/ - magnaflow exhaust, k&n 63 intake, and lightened pullies. He said "some turns especially go up hill he could not keep up. *I think personally its just based on driver not car* I ran my car hard meaning my front tires are feathered, my eng temp went up to 270 deg, my power steering fluid boiled to the point it leaked out of the vent hole cap, and my car was driven for two sessions straight lasting about 45 -50 laps. Thank God for Brake Fade Comphensation and external oil cooler. So did i prove anything on the track . no not really, other than having the second best time using run flat street tires. the 07 m roadster came in 1st - - 01:05.941 using 18" Flaken Azenis rt-615. In all of good nature I have more respect for my car and was given props from other drivers knowing now what a a 335i can do on or off the track. |

Great to hear the car hold up in the heat and did not have a problem with excessive heat shutdown. Let us know how the car hold up with the procede. I am considering taking it to the track on april 2

But if your saying the indoor karts are more tiring u need to stop at the xplex in vegas the REAL kart track on the way in/out of vegas right off the freeway! u can rent a rotax for 100$ for a half hour. go drive that thing and tell me how u feel! KUJO yes GATORZ series ran on the streetz last month. man u need to come out again! we just had a race this weekend! u should come out for a practice day and just drive around :rocks:
