Interesting. Another forum member with a MT tracked his and was around 270F. Big question is, is your AT one of those unfortunate not to have the additional engine oil cooler??

other thing you can do, and not fun, is run the heat full blast, as that cools the motor down.
I've run a bunch out at Willow and in the summer, one weekend we were running in 100 degree weather. My B6 Audi S4 would get HOT by about 15 laps, we'd just pull off on the skid pad area and blast the heat, do a few slow circles and then get on her again and she'd be cooler...... But, yes, this oil cooler issue could be not fun for us AT guys that DO love to hit the tracks. kj |

Wow--that is hot--maybe this is a bigger problem than BMW realizes....

I think there's another pic somewhere that explained extra tubes being available to run to the oil cooler if it is available, visible at the front once you pop the hood... but not sure where that is right now, maybe somewhere else in that thread.

Just search for "oil cooler", there are three long threads with info in them on how to find it, what it does, and who to contact to try to get one retrofitted.

The flap is a duct to cool the brakes. It's there in place of the cooler; so no, you do not have the cooler. You may want to get confirmation of the cooler install before heading to the dealership, since odds are if you show up asking for the cooler they will laugh at you.
