Help with removing grille mustache

I installed the bottom half of my matte grille just fine, but I can't take off the stock mustaches. Each of them has a screw that keeps spinning but won't come out. Do you guys know how I can remove it without breaking something. I really don't want to have to break the mustache to get it off.

I just tried this and couldn't get it to come off. Any other tips?

ya its very poorly made, when you unscrew it the threaded housing also spins so its very hard to get it out. My mustache is down to only 2 screws in each compared to the original 4. like express said just try to apply pressure by pushing them up and turning the screw until it gives and dont put the screw back in the one that spins just leave 1 or 2 whatever or whatever amount actually unscrews.

Same thing happened with mine, and pulling didn't help, so this is what I did: The mustache is actually made of two parts. Look carefully, you should be able to separate the top chrome piece of the mustache from the bottom piece that is actually screwed in. If you can get at least one or two screws out, then you can pull up one side of the moustache and unclip the top portion from the edge that's pulled up. Be gentle, and don't break the clips. Once you do that, the remaining screw and nut will be exposed from the top. Use pliers and a cloth to clamp only the spinning nut down while you unscrew the screw.

If you look at the screw, you'll see that the problem is that blue loc-tite comes applied to the screw from the factory, making it difficult to unscrew. What ends up happening is that the embedded nut becomes loose in the plastic moustache and the whole thing ends up spinning.

Good luck!

Yup, this works perfectly for those crappy upper parts. I ran into this same problem and had to take the chrome piece apart (discovered that by accident) and using pliers to hold the nut worked just fine. You gotta wonder how the hell they decided a ROUND NUT was the way to go here...

I was finally able to get it off using express705's method. Thanks guys. I did break one of the mustaches at the point where it holds the nut that kept rotating but oh well. At least it came off.
