I say try to reproduce the problem, and if you are successful, tell them to fix it

seriously, if you have the problem, put the onus on BMW to tell you they can't resolve it (and why) vs. the onus being on you to determie whether they should resolve it.

I had no idea if i have SA 609, or if I have version 19 or greater. I am not sure I even know what this means . but i did call them up, tell them my pop up arrow diplay doesn't work, told them my understanding is V25 fixes it, and then I got quiet and let him talk. First thing he said was " we will have V25 next week and can install then, does that work for you?"

Can this new version enable the iPod integration to be installed on Pre-sept 2005 cars?

Or has it already been possible lately?
I have Apr-05 production e90 and has given up the hope of having iPod in my glove box

I use AUX though, which has been very nice so far.

It does, mine was a May 2005 build E90 and I've had the iPod retrofit kit in for about 6 months. The only issue was I lost the ability to play data MP3 CD's in the CD drive. That is suppose to be fixed in either Progman v24 or v25 my dealership told me.

I did not know that, and haven't tried playing MP3's. but the good news is this is just another "excuse" (a valid one) we can use to get the new V25 SW loaded. now we have two good problems in our arsenal.

given the service information bulletin says to update the vehicle with V25 "on a customer complaint basis only", we all sit here and share our complaints! I love it.

These types of discussions are why we're here, vs. threads like "should I get a stick or auto?"

I know you didn't ask me, but I have it as well so will pass along what i know. I was quoted list price of $319 for parts (plus tax), and 2 hours labor at $139 per hour. some folks have negotiated a discount, and i negotiated the whole thing into the price of the car, so not really sure what I really "paid". but at least here is list price.

That helped alot. $450 give or take...

After reading some threads here on sluggish ipod screen on i-drive, I'm still in doubt whether I really need it or not.

I'll negotiate the price with my SA when I bring my car for the software update next time. Until then, AUX will be with ipod as always.

Mine was also $319 for the parts and 1 hour of labor at $80 so $399.

I personally was using the AUX as well but having this integrate cleanly now and charge with one wire in the glove box is very nice. I can work around the sluggish behavior and quirks. For trips it really is a nice thing to have.

I wonder if v25 will fix the "random" issue ... i really hope it does ... and if it does.. it will be perfect! ... haha ... well ... we can always hope for the option to turn off the head corner light as an option in iDrive... but of cos.. that wont happen

what are you referring to? if you mean how random functions, the answer is no because it is not broken, it functions as per spec.

Not for me. When using the ipod, I click random, and it jumps to a random track, and then proceeds to stop being random from that point on. Every single time. If I select random again, nothing happens.

That's a shame, what bugs me the most is when on random all in the iPod, and you hit a song you don't like and advance it, it selects another song from that artist. Doesn't seem to random shuffle and pick from all the songs within that area (playlist, genre, or other).

I forgot to mention that on top of what the other have mention, if you use your phone with bluetooth, it stop being random if you make a call. I know this for a fact because it i will reselect and pick a new song when i say "random". If it is currently in random mode, it would not do that.

I am listening to educational CD's which mean it has to stop when I mute the radio or receive a phone call. Sometimes it does not stop - and it waste a couple of minutes to find the place again.

Is this fixed?
