Gumout Regane Complete Fuel System Cleaner

I know BMW sells Techron but I've been hearing around other car circles that Gumout Regane works wonders. However, there isn't one post on E90post.com about this product. Has anyone tried this Shell product?

Doesn't do anything on direct injection motors but take your money. DI Injectors can not be cleaned by their design.

DI injectors can not be cleaned. If they have a spray pattern issue they have to be replaced.

Sorry but that does not make sense.
Why can't they be cleaned?

this is a fuel additive, so it goes through the system and injector regardless of location in the engine, yes it will clean them...

to OP:

Ive used it in my 328 and it seems to work well

Because you already have up to 3000 psi going through them and they are piezo injectors. If that won't keep them clean, nothing will. If you have a bad spray pattern, you have a physical failure of the injector or the tip has worn away. BMW also states not to clean them as does the professional injector cleaning systems. If after you clean them and you get misfires, then chances are you now need a set of injectors because the spray pattern is now hitting the spark plug. If they were cleanable, BMW would have a process for that instead of replacing them first. Regular fuel injectors it works great. My X5 needs a bottle about every 10k miles or so.
