why would you leave the JB in for service, They prolly flashed the car and burnt out the JB or something or at least threw something off.

It wasn't BMW. Just a local Auto shop. I don't leave it in with BMW

And what does flashing the car mean? And how would they burn out a JB3

Flashing is basically updating something, typically a firmware.
In this case, it's possible that the people working on your car flashed your ECU, which your JB3 is connected to, and harmed the JB3 in some way.

I was always under the impression that ECU updates could be run "through" the JB3 without it causing any problems or damage, but I have no experience with that.
I would assume they didn't update anything anyway.

Not sure what to tell you, unfortunately.
Triple check the install? Positive you're not on Map 0?
If you are on JB3 2.0 and have the data cable, see if you can connect to the JB3 with your laptop. That might indicate whether it's fried or not.

The JB3 won't be affected by flashing as I know a few customers who have left theirs in while BMW reflashed their software with no ill effects.

I would set it to map0 and drive it for a day and then to map5 or map3 (whatever your normal map is) and I am sure you will feel the difference back.

What version of the JB3 do you have?

thanks Mike,

I spoke to Terry and am getting a datalogging cable to check. I didn't think the JB3 would be affected by flashing either. Until I get the cable, I'll do what you said: run at map 0 then at 3. Nothing could have really went wrong with it, just spoke to the tech that worked on my car and he said he didn't have to reset the the computer since the indicator light in the dash went away after he changed the bulb.

Thanks for all the help.
