thinking of upgrading from the Jb2 to Jb3 + intake, read lots of stuff, however is it gonna make enough hp/tq gains to warrant the added expense?

If you are comfortable working with a pin-out style install (JB2) then the Pin-out/JB3 combo is a great cost effective way to take advantage of the JB3.

Thats a better choice IMO, but I was presenting the more cost effective option. You will notice a lot of improvements over the JB2 in terms of power, drivability, smoothness and overall "fun factor"
