Discount Anyone ?
I have been discussing this a little bit lately. How much discount (percent or dollars) on the MRLP were you able to get on your new car.
I would like to see how it varies with states too... I havent got my e90 yet... but I'm aiming (ambitiously) for about: 15% - QLD You ? |

Just checked their website and they seem to have started offering BMW's again as I guessed market pressures would dictate ![]() http://www.privatefleet.com.au/bmw3/ They also seem to have fleet discounting for used cars at wholesale prices http://www.privatefleet.com.au/used-cars/ The second best option is obviously pitching dealer against dealer to get the best price ![]()

Not a bmw, but we were able to get %10 off the rrp for an ix35.
Probably could have done a little better - but i think its good considering its a new car and we are paying less then what demo vehicles were going for. Just look on carsales and find out the cheapest new/demo prices for the model u want and when time comes to negotiate you can use the lowest value as you highest offer. Because you know other dealers are making a profit at the lowest point so other dealers can much it or do better. Plus dealers will take pretty much anything for a brand new car. It costs them nothing to put in the order and have it delivered. Different when the car is sitting in the lot, taking up space and money they owe on it.

So do you think 10% is a realistic number?
An approx $115,000 330d (that's the cost once you add dealer delivery+stamp duty+rego) - could that turn into $103,000 drive away? Do you think you would get more or less %-age off as the cost goes up? |

10-20% is possible depending on your negotiation skills. The markup is substantial.
Like J said, cars that are in bond or warehouse will tend to be easier to get than cars on the lot, as they are having to pay for them to sit in the showroom. |

Don't forget that with LCT and GST in the equation a grand off dealer profit equates to around $1480 in retail price (if I calculated correctly, including 5% NSW Stamp Duty)

Wonder what margins BMW dealers in Australia operate on for new cars..about 30%?

I got 11.5% off drive-away on a factory ordered E90 330d in Sep 2009. I don't know what the buying climate would be like now ...on the negative side, luxury car sales have picked up in recent months, but on the positive side the E90 is 5 years into its 7-year model cycle and I believe is still losing sales to the newer Merc C-class and Audi A4.

The 11.5% was off the drive away price, so included all the stamp duty and dealer delivery?
I'd be happy with 11.5%. Quote:

Good thing is I am in no hurry and the end of financial year for Germans is 30 Sept, so expecting bit more desperation from dealers then, if they follow the German financial calendar. If not, end of month is almost always better. And oh yes... as cruvon said - dealer vs dealer ROCKS ![]() |

According to the BMW Oz website, the base 335i M Sport Sedan (M Sport is now standard), with no other options is $120,539.76 drive away for NSW postcode 2000, or $122,519.22 for WA 6000.

Anyone like to take a guess at the price of the new F10 5-series 530 diesel when it eventually goes on sale in Oz?
The old E60 530d and 530i used to be almost the same price, about $116,000 list before stamp duty/delivery. But in Euro-land the new 530d is significantly more than the petrol equivalent. It's the same price as a 535i. The 535i is already on sale in Oz and it's $128,900. Oz prices so far (before stamp duty/delivery and before you ask for a discount): 520d: $83,300 530d: hasn't arrived yet 528i: $99,900 535i: $128,900 |

It's quite a large jump though if they don't bring in a 530d - it would be a $30,000 gap between the 528i and the 335i. They could really do with an in-between model. And if you assume (and this may be a big assumption) that BMW Oz want to have a full range of diesels, then it is a huge gap between a 520d and a 535d.
Are 3-series 335d's sold in Oz? Quote:
