Where does one find Sergei these days? Plus random Q re: Land rover

So a colleague has an 06 land rover vogue which still has the BMW sat nav style before tata took over and it was switched to a bespoke system...

His disc is very out of date and he was wondering what would happen if for instance; Sergei popped up with an 09 disc and popped it in for him?

Do you know if these discs are tied down to the car model specifically or if it just the same system?

FWIW the sat nav just looks like an alpine nav system re-skinned..

Sorry for not knowing more, if i've missed any pertinent facts then slap me with a kipper and I'll update the topic.
