I went with the H&Rs because of the KW "squeak" issue. as for the H&Rs rusting, you literally need to bathe them in barrels of ice salt for a while for them to actually start to deteriorate. H&R users should be ok for a quite some time.

i had kw v1. they are nothing to brag about. they are a good shock but the springs on them are a joke. you obviously could utilize swift springs, but id be fearful that kw would void my warranty for using non-kw springs.
i am going to with H&R coilovers next. vendors who sell the KW will suggest them and scare you about the corrosion issue. there is a spray that Turner Motorsports sells that eliminates the fear of winter weather corrosion http://www.turnermotorsport.com/html...CT_ID=891.9016 spray that in the threaded portion and voila, ur golden! in addition, run flat tires with coilovers leads to a nightmare ride, so buyer beware.

Technically they are the springs for the non xi model. I figure with a weight difference of a couple hundred pounds it was worth the risk compared to the alternatives of not getting the Bilsteins (bouncy ride plus blown stock shocks) or getting coil-overs (squeaking, chirping, barking, whatever). I ruled out coil-overs right away because I dont track my car or want to go aggressively low so the Eibach/Bilstein was the best choice. I did about 6 months of research and was not the first and will not be the last with this combo!

For what it's worth - I am having KW V1s installed on my car next week, along with 18" Apex ARC-8 wheels (8.5/9.5 hypersilver, each about 18.5 lbs!) and Dunlop Direzza Star Tac NON-runflats. I researched all of the posts and was just like you -- on the fence. I then spoke with Eddy at Apex and Steve and VAC Motorsports in Philly. Both guys seem to really know their stuff and "in their professional opinions" recommended this set-up for my E90 335xi. I could have kept researching....and researching..until "analysis paralysis" sets in. It seems like a reasonable set-up, but ultimately I'm trusting my guy's opinion at VAC Motorsports. You may want to talk to your guy to help you decide too.

I had to roll my fenders, but I am also running large tires. I love my KW V3s. Initial drop on first test was @ 1.5". I had some major rubbing, so we simply raised the rear a little, and I've been happy ever since.

Hey thanks I just had my V1's installed today. Drop seems pretty aggressive, I hope it doesn't settle much. Fenders are right on the top of the tire. Ride is good and wheels turn fully, no rubbing so far. I can easily fit a full finger in between the fender and the tire.
Haven't hammered it through the corners yet but I'll try it tomorrow and if still doesn't rub then I'm golden. Wheels are SF-71 staggered, silver 19x8.5 ET35 and 19x9.5 ET35. 235/35-19 front and 275/30-19 rear Bridgestone Potenza RE760 Sport. The tires are pretty round on the top; if they were more squared off I would be worried. |

I am a new owner of 2011 335xi. I had many BMWs and I am skier so since the AWD system comes free in the BMW NA's current promotion, I thought it wouldn't hurt much to have a AWD BMW for the first time.
I custom ordered the car with pretty much all options, including the M sport package but I was shocked when I found out the XI does not come with sport suspension. So here I am looking for a good suspension upgrade. I also want to get rid of my 18" style 193M wheels (anybody want these?? only 250 miles on them. brand new!)to get a different set of wheels with all season tires. Please keep the comments coming. Thanks for all your guys' input! :-) |

I decided to give the V1s a try, so they're on order. But I've been thinking that they may not be firm enough, and that I should have gone with V3s. I guess we'll see.
