Prestige BMW. Shaddy CA and bait/switch tactic. Not so Prestigue attitude.
Went to go check out the following car at Prestige BMW today.
http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/vdp.js...standard=false On Monday I called the number listed in the Autotrader AD. I was told car is still for sale and available for test drive. Spoke to CA, Freddie Benitez and mentioned Autotrader AD regarding 2009 335i Sedan, and associated VIN number. Made an appointment to come in Saturday at 11AM. Fast forward to end of week, their front desk gave me a courtesy call yesterday to confirm my appointment. I make my way out to Prestige BMW in Mahwah, NJ. Called the CA twice on my way and told him I am stuck in bumper to bumper traffic. That I will be late. In all it took me approx. 3 hours to get to the dealership. Went in and spoke to the front desk. They can't get a hold of the CA. Finally after waiting 45 mins in the showroom. So the dialog begins: CA: Have you seen the car?. Me: No I didn't see it outside anywhere CA: OK give me a few minutes. Let me get the keys and let's go look at this car. CA comes back with key fob CA: Car is in the showroom and points key fob at to a 328i X-Drive. Me: That's definitely not the car. CA: Let's keep walking. Its in the showroom. Ahh this is the car. Me: Yeah this is the car. I can see the sport wheels from the side and am grinning inside At this point I am pretty happy. With in 2 seconds I am thinking nice color, clean wheels, etc... And then as I turn to face the hood of the car.. It hits me. The car is not the stock 335i Sedan that's in the Autotrader AD . Instead its a DINAN badged car with the following mods: DINAN Stage 1 ECU flash DINAN Seats and other various trimmings DINAN Exhaust DINAN Intake and some other BS. Me: Are you sure this is the same car? CA: VIN number xxxxxxxxxxxxx Me: Yes, that's the VIN in the AD CA: Well this is the car. The price is $58000 Me: .That cannot be. This is not the same car you are advertising. CA: Oh Really? At this point I lost my cool. I am thinking to myself, how the F*** do you ask a customer to come in and look/test drive a car you clearly don't have. Or had at some point but have totally modified it, but with almost 2x the price you are advertising. Me: Please take me to a PC. I want you to print out the AD and show me what I mis-understood about it. Because no where in the AD does it say it has all these DINAN mods on it and the selling price is $58,000 So we go to a PC and the CA, in embarrassment says "I'll be right back". 5 minutes later the CA comes back with the general manager. I look GM straight in the eyes and ask him "What's the deal with the car"? To which the manager says, "The blue 335i, the DINAN car, its $58,000". Me: Are you effinn.. Kidding me? I wasted 3 hours of my time, gas, tolls to come look at this car. Your ad is false and mis-leading. Don't you and your CA's double check the information you are giving to your customers? Not once in my 5 conversations with your CA, was it indicated to me the modifications or the price of the car. I was lead to believe the car in the AD is available at that price. Manager: There is no need to curse in the showroom sir. Me: How can you overlook such a big detail? Couldn't your CA have just told me over the phone the AD is incorrect? You totally wasted 1/2 my day, money I spent on tolls, etc.. Manager: Sir, I can get one of my guys to go fill your car up with gas if it makes you happy. Me: Its not about that. And I walked out of the dealership, totally fumming. Freakin' liars. Talk about a bait and switch. Prestige BMW, not so Prestige in my book. |

Wow,
I was just there this Saturday as well...I ended up ordering an X5 diesel.... My experiance is 180 degrees from yours. Spoke to the guy on the phone got the numbers by e-mail...came in wrote the deal and ordered the car...should have production number tomorrow... BTW I did see the Dinan 3 on the showroom floor....Did you see the Alpine White M3 Coupe with the Carbon Fiber hood and trunk and the B7 Alpina? Funny how 2 different people -> one had a shitty experiance and one had one of the best most simplest sales experiances.... Let me know if you want my CA's info... Thank you. BTW - I was the guy with the Red X6 (glasses and bold head with my wife) was there around 11AM - 12PM

Freakin' a$#holes finally updated their ad. Yet they are still showing pictures of the stock 335i.
Dencoop, I did see the E92 M3 with the CF hood, HRE Wheels and the CF trunk. It sounded bad arse when the owner pulled away from the parking lot. I didn't see the B7 Aplina but did see the red Ferrari 360 Modena parked in the lot. Also saw an older gentleman taking delivery of his 2011 E92 335i Space Gray, Coral Red with sport package. God i love the sound of the stock exhaust on the 335i. |

Sorry to hear about your troubles rideontwo.
I purchased an 08 328xi about 2 weeks ago, from Prestige @ Mahwah. No problems, and CA (Anthony Polisena) was very straightforward and easy to deal with. I was looking at R32's at the same time, and experience at Koeppel VW in Queens was similar to yours (spoke w/internet manager on phone, agreed to come down, spent $70+ on tolls/gas, price completely different upon arrival, infuriating experience). Sorry to hear that I bought both of mine from Prestige. I told them what I wanted to pay for both cars and there was no issues with haggling. Pretty smooth process.

Just an Upate: My CA at the dealership came through 100%, not only do I already have a production number, But I have a confirmation for pick up on September 17th at the PCD. ...So I guess its not the dealership in general its more of who you deal with.... When you do get your 335i, if t's the N54 engine maybe I can hook you up with an 8 month old JB3 chip for half price

I think you should make an official complaint to that State's Consumer Affairs and Attorney General about there deceptive business practices, especially since they still have that car advertised with the wrong info.
Make sure you make a copy of the ad before they change it or take it down.
