Question help bms dual cone and air scoops question?

I just ordered my bms duel cone intake and was also thinking about ordering ram air scoops. Would this be a good set up or are the scoops only good with the factory intake .Should i just stay with the dual cone?

the scoops may help lower engine bay temps but keep in mind the scoops outlet point isnt really directly feeding the intakes... im sure it will help a little with temp but i wouldnt expect to see any gains.

Not sure it will provide any real gains but for the price of the scoops, why not

The scoops will make the engine bay dirtier. I pipe the scoops in the stock airbox and it's definately dirtier in there than before.

what? how can scoops with a stock air box make the engine bay dirtier?
It's all sealed. I can understand scoops with dci's, but not with the stock airbox.
I run this setup, and the extra debris just gets trapped in the airbox.

Scoops are a complete waste of $ and have never been proven for any gains whatsoever. That being said, I do agree with them making my engine bay dirtier.

I did some testing recently on scoops with my DCI's by logging and monitoring intake temperatures as I was driving.

Found no difference in overall intake temperatures.

Where they did seem to help was in evacuating the hot air in the engine compartment after some 3rd-4th gear pulls to redline.

After a few pulls, the engine bay temp rises and so do your intake temps due to heatsoak.

Without the scoops, I found it would take about 10 minutes of normal driving for intake temps to come back down and stabilize back to where they started.

With the scoops, the cool down time seems to be cut in half.

But the key is that you have to have constant airflow and give moderate amounts of throttle so that the cooler air can enter the intercooler and help cool it down.

So in some sense they are worthwhile to combat heat soak, but don't expect any drop in intake temps......just a faster recovery.

Oh.....and they look neat too.

I got the Macht Schell ones and I like the fact that they are curved away from the radiator so as to impede airflow to the rad as little as possible.

But I could live without them too.

If you really want to have an impact on intake temps go with an intercooler or meth.

Those will make a real difference.

If you are runing a dual cone with air scoops your engine bay will be dirtier. air scoops with stock intake makes the stock instake dirtier, so if you remove the stock intake, your engine bay will be dirtier.
