Rear Fog Light
Hey...i did a couple of searches and found out that all i needed was to buy the European headlight switch in order to enable my rear fog light. However i don't believe there was any confirmation as to whether it will work for the e90 LCI...if someone can confirm this for me it would be very helpful. Also where can i find these without having to go through the dealer...i know ecs tuning has them but its on back order until late oct..once again any help will be appreciated

I'm pre LCI 2008 E90, got my switch from Jason at Tisher.
It is plug n Play, no worries. Not sure why it will not work with a LCI BMW. Ask ECS. |

I have a 2010 e90 and all I did was cut the little tabs that prevent the bottom button from moving and stuck a small lego piece under it to hit the switch on the board.

Correct. The plate that's in your switch had 3-4 tabs that prevent it from being depressed. It also doesn't have of course the Rear Fog light image. Just take your switch out and disassemble it. It's all snap-on pieces and you can get to the tabs and trim them off. Then you just need a small plastic piece to use to depress the button on the circuit board when you press the fog light button. Some say a Lego piece or similar will work. Others have reported that the piece of plastic is already in their switch, and all they had to do was trim off the tabs to make it work. this is truly a 15 minute fix.

Awesome...glad to know that it actually works...now its time to source the switch...i'd go with the lego method but i do wanna keep the car looking as oem/euro as possible..not sure if that makes sense.
JDLM- prices has skyrocketed...i think ecs has them from 100-120...the chrome one is on on backorder until oct. |

The plastic piece goes inside the switch assembly and no one will ever see it. All you need is something about an inch long that will depress the little button on the circuit board inside the switch assembly when you push the rear fog light button. You can search for folks who replaced their NA switch for a Euro switch ( like I did). Put a WTB post for it. I sold the white plastic piece to BELARUS who successfully made the conversion. No need to spend the money as I did, just to get the Rear Fog Light Image on the switch.
