Some first pics of my car

Hi everyone,

I've had the car a couple of weeks now, and managed to get the time to wash, clay then polish the bodywork the other day. I am very pleased with the car and get loads more mileage wise than my previous car, while still being nearly as quick!

Here are some pics:

I have since changed the tax disc for a laser etched (BMW logo) Richbrook item, which looks infinitely better than the stick on rubbish I had it with!

I hope to do a few more mods soon (if the tax disc holder counts as a mod?), first on the list has to be darklines, although need to watch the insurance hikes on the back of such mods! Audio is another area I would like to improve on too, I'll be trawling the forum for some suggestions and ideas before I start anything though.

Any comments, suggestions or questions welcome!

Thanks,

Dave

Looks lovely, great bit of shine on there!

What did you use to get it gleaming like that?

I used Triplewax car shampoo, Meguiar's detailer spray and clay bar, then Meguiar's Gold Class liquid wax.

It was quite a job, but well worth the effort.

Good choice, manual or auto?

BTW - How do you get out of the car once you have parked it in the garage?

Its an auto. I didn't really have a choice, one of the directors at work was selling it and offered it me at a price I couldn't refuse. I think had I had the choice, I would have had a manual, although that could still be because I am not used to driving an auto.

It was tight on that occassion to get out, I put it in straight because I did all the detailing in the garage so needed to get round both sides, usually I get it closer to the wall so it is easier to get in and out.

WOW! some tight parking! I wouldn't be able to walk around to detail in that space let alone get out the car!

Love the colour and the car ;-)

Mine doesn't have the fin though as no bluetooth/idrive in mine.

Enjoy it, what age and mileage is it? Sounds lovely at full chat (for a derv).

Never seen under 30mpg with many short urban trips, but throw in some long ones and you have 37mpg easily.

The auto needs a nudge across into DS/M from time to time, shame mine doesn't have paddles.

Its a 2007, has got 49k miles on it. I am very pleased with the engine, it is lovely for a diesel. I am getting around 26mpg round town at the moment, but my journeys are all heavy traffic, compared to my last car, I am saving quite a lot on fuel! Used to get 240 miles on a tank costing £65, got 335 miles on £65 last tank

I do nudge it over sometimes to get it into manual and floor it (not to kickdown) so as to feel the pull throughout the rev range in a particular gear. I don't have paddles either, although I don't see it as a major issue....yet, could be a future mod?

There is more room than there seems on those pics in my garage, all be it I can't swing my arms around with cleaning gear and expect not to hit the wall! There is enough for me to work ok on it!

Thanks

I know what you mean, it is supposed to be 'Vid' but everyone says V10! I too wish it were on such a car!
