Moving 1,800 Miles need advice on transporting my dogs...

I never had to move this far before and not really to familiar on how to safely transport both of my 3 year old Labs. I am renting a 5X8 Uhaul trailer to hook up to my Ford Wrecker. My Wrecker is a regular cab with 2 of us in it so having 2 65LBS labs in the cab is out. Is it safe to transport them in the Uhaul trailer if we stop every few hours to make sure they get plenty of water and get walked? I have never done this before and not sure if this is the safest bet. And if not what options do I have to get my dogs from NJ to TX? Thanks.

I was gonna say cab...but definitely out. I travelled with my dog from florida to cali with him in the car. How ventilated are the uhaul trailer? I would ask the uhaul guys if it's safe. Make sure they're in kennels

if there's some ventilation in the trailer and your not driving on a 100+ degree day then i think your dogs should be ok. be careful though, they might get motion sickness from being in an enclosed space.

The wife and I used this place to move our two cats from LA to Chicago.

http://royalpaws.com/

Super nice people and a pleasure to work with. The cool part is that they do a team driver type of situation so that they can drive straight through so it's less stressful on the animals. With dogs they will stop at rest areas and walk them.

They sent camera phone pics periodically and called a few times with status updates, etc. to let us know how everything was going. Arrived in LA for the PU right on time and actually got to Chicago a couple hours early.

Not sure when you are moving, but if you want to use these guys you should call right away because they only have few teams.

Good luck.. I know how transcontinental moves can be... I've done it 3 times. LOL.

Hey great link thanks so much it looks pretty good. I am making the move on Wed. night but if needed my dogs can stay home with my parents until they are ready to be moved. I filled out the quote form. If you dont mind me asking how much did you pay to have your cats moved?
