Thumbs down M3 pricing, Aero lip and damage!

1) Straight from my CA's PC: Dutch M3 pricing!
EUR 99.500,-
In capitals on same page: RS4 = EUR 107.000,-

You guys can do the math:
E46 M3 2006 = EUR 80.000,- (NO metallic, SMG, Nav, Sunroof, leather, 19")
EUR = $1,33
Dunno the standard config but that's a 25% increase... I'm out!

2) Aero lip: picked it up today and made some piccies unpainted. I have seen people asking for them.

3) Damage:  Guess what this dum f*#k (that's me) bumped in at the dealers parking lot with his 2 weeks old E92 335i?! A 6 weeks old E92 335D. This needs some more explanation.
Parking lot is crampy, I couldn't get it right in 1 turn and basically occupied 2 spaces. Didn't want to look like I couldn't park so decided to back up a bit and move a ft. to the right. Put auto in R and backed up a ft. when a Mini came round my right corner so I halted. The mini started to turn there so I waited some more not knowing what he would do and kept my eye over my right shoulder on him. When he went I looked in my rearview mirror. Nothing so I released the brake and the damn auto tranny goes immediately of course.
Split sec. later I hear a horn and a crashing sound at the same time! Turns out this guy in a 335D sneaked up on me on the left side and was also waiting there for the Mini but with his nose 2-3 ft. behind my left end rear bumper.
Turned out a I punched a big hole in his plastic front fender. Looked like broken glas, sharp pieces everywhere. So he was like: WTF, is that plastic!? I felt like a moron but he was cool: Is yours a 335i? How do you like it? Don't sweat it, shit happens. His was a company car with over 12.000kms. in 6 weeks. Wow!

Anyways, we went inside, got a drink and filled in the paperwork. He scheduled the repair on the spot at the servicedesk. I went to my CA's desk and cried my eyes out when I saw my pristine Carbon Black M3 parked on the Premium spot in the showroom.

So I picked up my Aero lip and left early to visit my bodyshop. Had to go there anyway. These guys are the best (Friday 16:45). "When can you bring it? How about Monday at 7:30? We know how much you hate this so we'll just squeeze you in and have it ready Monday evening, Aero lip and all."
They just made my weekend liveable.:rocks: I was going to give my baby his first bath but now I'll throw a bucket of muddy water over it to cover up my crime.

The body guys had some interesting remarks about the plastic fenders:
-they exist because of EU pedestrian safety regulations (hoods next?)
-them splintering caused mayhem on my bumper, metal fenders might have caused only minor buffable scratches on my bumper
-aging of molds might cause dimension abnomalies, my fenders are not 100% either
-shock absorbant? Yeah right, at +35 degrees Celsius they might

Oh yes, the bumper can be repaired. They can do miracles with plastics and hot-air guns these days and they found the quality of the Aero lip to be superb.

Well that sucks! It happens to the best of us. At least the guy you hit wasn't upset. Post some pics on Monday when you get the lip on and painted.

based on the info that you've provided, the new M3's base price should be around $57,175 or so. That's $11k increase over the E46 model.

Gotta love US prices

I cant even get a 335i for that, a 330i with a few options goes over that

Here, Here !!!

Why are we so ripped-off in SA...

It kills me to read about the US prices that members are paying. Worse still is that there really is no downside to their good deal. They don't wait half as long for cars as we do and pay fraction prices.....

But so be it....
What can one do????

Although: We should be grateful at SA's E92 prices. compared to Europe we are getting bargains!!!!!!
