Spoke with Dinan folks today at TechFest about products for 335i

I talked to Scott from Dinan today while at day 2 of Techfest in Tacoma (Washington State) and asked "when will we see something (anything!) for the 335i?" He told me that the 335i is currently their "top priority" and their engineers are "working on several things". He was a little reluctant to expand on what "several things" meant, but after I pressed him he told me that they want to address the so called "engine temp problems" before they come out with any software/chip upgrade. I believe his exact words were "what's the use of increasing engine performance when it will just lead to extreme engine temps?".

He also told me they are working on a LSD, and of course a bbk from Brembo. Apparently they receive 9 or 10 calls per day on the 335, but really want to "take their time and do things right". That's about all I could get out of him. I'll be attending a Steve Dinan presentation on Saturday.

Sorry, but that's just pathetic. By the time Dinan actually comes out with something for the 335i, there will be more than a handful of much more cost efficient and more powerful alternatives, including the PROcede, the Turbo Tuner, AA chip reflash, etc.

In addition, I really think this "overheating" issue is just an excuse for them; it's really not as widespread of a problem as some would think (plus, now BMW has added the oil cooler to all 335i's in production)...

Actually, sflgator, BMW may not have started adding the cooler to all cars. They may not have even added it to all auto/sport package cars. Several people that have taken delivery in the past week or two are still reporting missing oil coolers.

I agree with you about Dinan though...

for me the main thing would be an LSD that would be covered by the factory warranty, ie Dinan.

Only thing I would go for is the LSD. I mean no offense to the other LSD on the forum being sold right now, but I've never heard of it AND if something goes wrong, having a Dinan LSD thats backed by BMW is more than worth it for me.

BMW does NOT back Dinan.... Dinan just has an agreement with them and if any Dinan product goes kaput, Dinan is responsable, NOT BMW NA.

I had my 330i ZHP stage III Dinan-ized and it cost a bundle.
I would NOT spend MORe money on a Dinan product, if a comparable non Dinan product, for less money, was available.

This Dinan/Warranty thing is such a miss understood thing.

BMW does NOT warranty Dinan parts and if a Dinan part causes damage to anything, you have to fight with Dinan over the issue.

I think for the most part, Dinan is 110% over rated, but to each his own.

Ah so, I didnt know that. From reading the posts on this site, I was led to believe that BMW's warranty covered the Dinan parts. Understand now.

i was under the same impression from the service guys at the dealership... if that is true and there is no interchangable warranty, then hell no reason to drop more than needed.

as for the "other company" on the "other site", I have heard of them before. they had made some Audi stuff for some guys in the past when I had my S4. quality too from what i remeber hearing. I have no actual first hand account though.

Rumor has it DINAN is going out of buisness because they owe like 10,000 people rebates but dont have the money in their account to pay the people! Nor do they have the money to create new products! Why do you think the M5 exhaust by DINAN went up almost 1200 in the past 6 months.... DINAN is not doing well my friends... Plus as of this year BMW is not honoring DINAN parts under their warrenty... Thats why BMW is coming out with there own motorsports line... keep this in mind guys and I will just let you know my source for this information is very strong!

Yeah, I was one of those people they owe/owed money to.
For the full Dinan3 kit I did in my 2005 330i ZHP.

Getting just part of it was like pulling teeth....

Pathetic.......

When you gonna be down here next Steve ?

BMW has never has never "honered" Dinan parts, as referred to earlier by kujo. I wasn't really aware of this fact until I heard Steve Dinan talk about 1hour ago at Techfest. It's called a "warrenty matching" program (Steve even had a slide on it), and it means if any part of a BMW fails and is determined to have been caused by any Dianan part, Dinan will "match the warranty" and pay for anything BMW won't pay for. There was a lot of people confused about this during his presentation. The thing is there's always the potential for BMW and Dinan arguing over what caused what in the event of a problem, while you wait for your car to be fixed.

DINAN = Waste of $$$

If you're that into the badge, buy a ProCede for 1300.00, a DINAN badge on ebay for 5.00, and you can have performance and the DINAN name badge for less than whatever DINAN comes out with.
