Hearing a slight whine

My dad's 2006 325xi touring. We were driving today and we both noticed a slight whine in 2nd and third gear while driving. Don't hear it while in neutral. its very faint.

He is running staggered 197s, but with dealer recommended tire sizes for the same rolling diameter.

It only has around 60K miles (95K km).

Any suggestions?

I have it too. Comes from the x-drive transfer case typically when coldish. Dealer inspected, heard it and said it's ok (if it means anything

) after looking into the transfer case.
