Service Interval Indicator

I have put about 8,500miles since I have had my car and it said 21,000 miles till service
and now it says 4,500 hahah

talk about reviving an old thread.

after receiving an oil change at the dealer, i noticed that the computer indicated that my next oil change is not due until another 'xx,xxx' miles, but the date is not set until another two years. why is that? this happened twice already. i thought it was one year or 'x' amount of miles.

i got my last oil change aug '09. although i still had about another 2k miles left before a service reminder, i had to call the dealership and remind them that it has been a year since my last oil change. because instead of the date being reminded on aug '10, its set to aug '11.

once i got the service done, the next service reminder is set to aug '12 instead of next year.

hope it's not confusing, anyone care to shed some light on this?
