Nope, No way of changing the settings. Reason the Xenons come on too is because the Angel Eyes themselves are not bright enough to be classed as DRLs. The E92/93 use different design bulbs and enclosures (which are much brighter) for their angel eyes, so Xenons don't have to be on too.

Personally, I have the DRL's off (as I have an E90 with optional Xenons) during the summer and turn them on in the winter (they will be turned back on in the next few weeks).

How do you turn them on without I-drive?

Anyone got a step by step guide for a dummy?

Turning angel eyes on for Dummys

PUT THE CAR ON OR IN FULL ACCSESORYS MODE TO DO THIS

1. look at the indicator stalk and you should
see a scrolling up and down thing like on the
wipers stalk

2. Put your thumb on the scroller and with little force push it down (keep the indicator stalk still it makes it easier)

3. When you pressed it down the menu screen should come up where it says the temp and time in between the speedo and rev counter.

4. There are a few different menus in there when you scroll up and down you need pic of a big key and a tick next to it when you see that press the BC bUtton on the end of the stalk

5. Then use the scroller to go down the menu untill you see a pic of a mini pic of a sun with off next to it (that means the are off at the moment)

6. Press bc button when on the pic with the sun when you press that another mini menu will come up saying on and off scroll to on and press bc when your on it

7. Done your drls should be on

That should be it hope that it can be followed
Can someone corect me if I'm wrong

DRLs cover me through tunnels etc.
They must be faulty then?

How does the sensor get confused by it being dark?

By that logic anyone who left home in the dark (most of us in winter), or who has a garage or ever used a multi storey car park, (a fair number too) then their lights would not auto-off when it got light otr they left the garage??

Remember the autos stay on for a good 5 to 10 seconds or more just in case its a passing light area to avoid the lights going off and on again, and with slowly rising light (like mornings) they will stay on longer than you think until its pretty light.

I think it is model-specific, ie the coupe has the white angel eyes but the standard E90 xenons have the yellowish angel eyes.

I notice the F10 5-series has white angel eyes and I guess every new model from now on will have the white angel eyes.

Source of info: Have a July 2010 build E90 with xenons and yellowish angel eyes. Every LCI xenon coupe I've seen has white angel eyes.

All the LCi model 3 series now have the nice white angel eyes - similar to the new 5 series, GT, etc

Only us peasants with the older model cars have the yellow'ish ones.

I did haver some LED ones fitted, but they interfere with the radio so took them back out. If anyone wants to buy 'em PM me lol

Peasants? Fortunante ones I would say!

In my humble opinion, the incandescant yellow ones are much nicer, a warmer, subtler, more menacing look, the white LED ones are just OTT chavtastic halford-lookalikes!!

I even preferred the dimmer pre-lci E90/E91 angel eyes that were more subtle still, but too dim to be used as DRLs

So now I'm v happy with my E91 LCI rings.

I saw a 10 plate 335d coupe near me and thought hideous! why has that guy put chavvy leds in his 10 plate car!!

....then I realised they all look like that now... oh dear bmw.

Off.

I have a 2007 E90 which has the rings and the headlights on rather than just the rings when you switch the DRL setting on.

I think newer models only show the rings when DRL is on?

Hi Mark,
DRLs on the E60 light up the Corona rings (angel eyes) to the front and "neon" bars at the rear. Parking lights also use the corona rings, no where near as bright, and in addition to the DRL criteria, they also light up the eye brow to the front and round light in the rear cluster. Not sure if E9x's follow the same principle.

I think dipped beams are weak/ineffective for some daylight conditions, that's why we have DRLs specific for day time use.
