brake sensor
i took my car to get the brake pads replaced at a local shop and i bought all the pads and the new sensors i somehow forgot to take the rear brake pads so he just installed the front and will do the rear in a couple days i asked for them to give me the old pads and sensors which he did but since he only did the front i tried to reset the light but it won't reset i know he took the old sensor off cause it was in the box with the old front pads. Do both the senors have to be new before you can reset the light? I'm hoping this is the case as i don't want it to be that they didn't put the new sensor on

The sensors are not re-usable, since they have a wear strip that touches the brake rotor. Once they get low enough to trigger the service light, they will always trigger the light. So you need to buy new brake sensors.

You should have (1) sensor on DS front & (1) sensor on PS rear (at least that is what my 09' E92 uses).
As stated previously, once the sensor is worn and triggers the amber 'brake' light on dash - resetting will do nothing - it needs to be replaced. Since you didn't replace the rear sensor, and it is worn, it will continue to trigger the light until replaced regardless of how many times you reset. If either, or both of the sensors are worn - triggers light Oh, and BTW, if you are ever removing them yourself (I just sent my caliper brackets & calipers off to powdercoat) be careful - the front sensor came right out, rear was stubborn, and instead of getting a pair of pliers to pull it straight out - I tried easily prying between caliper & sensor with screwdriver = SNAP + break. Now I'm spending $24 on a new sensor...
