335i Warranty Extension Cost for your info
Thought it might be helpful to post up todays quote from BMW for the top level comprehensive cover inc breakdown. My car has done 49k miles and AUC warranty expires in a few weeks.
Zero Excess, Cost = £520 or £48/month £100 Excess, Cost = £427 or £39/month £250 Excess, Cost = £346 or £33/month There is a higher price band had the car done more than 60000 miles, the cost increases significantly, the £520 example would be £870. Interesting, if you take the monthly option the cost doesnt go up at 60000 miles, and the monthly payments doesnt go up at the end of the first year (although they reserve the right to in the small print) Both monthly and annual options are transferable to next owner. I will therefore be paying £48 a month very soon. There are lower levels of cover available, but not of interest to me. Dont ask me what isnt and is not included, I'll just get the best cover I can. (£17k for my car if anyone wants it!) |

Paul, check the breakdown cover, I removed the breakdown and lowered the cost further (you still get emergency breakdown if things go t!ts up). The breakdown cover includes full european cover, and all sorts, and really pushed the premium up - I didn't see the need for it personally as I rarely travel too far and even if I did they'd drag me home on the basic option.
I'd stick £100 excess on there too. The price difference (£108p/a when paid monthly) between no excess and £100 excess seems worth the gamble. If you don't make a claim in the first year you've saved £108. If you make one claim you've virtually broken even. The £250 excess doesn't seem worthwhile, you'll paid an additional £72 to potentially save £150 (defference between £100 & £250 excess); not quite the same.
