No iDrive & 6FL iPod Option

I've tried searching/reading for information about this to no avail.

What do people know about how to browse artist/albums/genres without iDrive? How about play/pause? Is it just blind browsing like an iPod shuffle? Is there any documentation about this?

It´s not blind but it is very limited due to the very limited real estate of the MID. It´s pretty much a given that, if you really want to use an iPod or MP3 player properly, you will need to order iDrive.
