Garmin Nuvi Hardwire... Anybody??

Picked up a Garmin Nuvi 360 last week; have been looking for a hardwire cable but no luck so far. Anybody done this yet??

BTW... the Nuvi 360 rocks, especially after the price drop in the recent weeks...:rocks:

Not to change topic... okay, maybe a little...

I am thinking of a GPS and I played with TomTom 510 at BestBuy and saw how quickly it routes, about a second. Is the Nuvi 660 quick to route? What about reroute time if you miss a turn?

Thanx.

Go with the garmin. Ive never experienced better customer support with any company like I have with garmin. They update their sw all the time based on customer complaints/suggestions. Plus, their mount to the window works much much better than tom-tom's.

I picked up the Garmin Streetpilot 2720 over a year ago and I love it. Garmin advised me on two sererate updates and I loaded them in just a few minutes. My 335 Cp has Navi and the Garmin is quicker to plug in an address on and is more accurate. With more practice though, I will get better with the Navi.

Thanx for the advice, but I already ordered it on Sunday. :rocks:

I did find a hardwire for Garmin GPS (with mini usb) on ebay. Well, for the time being i have mounted the unit on top of the ashtray with sticky-back velcro and connected it to the cigarette lighter near it. The wire is just coiled and placed in the ashtray slot; the unit itself hides the wire...

How's the reception down there? I'd love to see pics, too.

I'm thinking about modifying the ashtray. I don't have my BMW or Nuvi 370 yet, but my impression is that there's an ashtray insert that's removable so that you can empty it. Is this correct? I'm hoping I can modify the insert and attach a mount.

I was surprisingly pleased with the reception down there. I get about 24-25 feet accuracy in the open, about 30-32 feet when its down there in the car; plus its a little more discrete and easily accessible. I'll try to get some pics tomorrow morning...

My 660 is in its little holder in the driver's side cup holder. As long as I don't get the car sideways, it should stay put.

It seems the coupe wood trim is more curved than the sedan's. I had a 328xi loaner last week and the suction of the Nuvi holder worked right on the trim, but not in my car's trim. I would like a better solution, but I also want the device closer to eye height so it will be easier to glance at while driving.

BTW, 15 feet accuracy!

If you're set on using the cup holder, you might try:

Not a very elegant solution, but I've been thinking of getting this one, too. But I don't know if I could buy a product from a company called "mount guys"
