New Member/Paint Repair

Good Afternoon All,

New member, so I thought I would say hello, had my new to me BMW for about 2 weeks now.

An E92 2006 BMW 335i Montego Blue with Blue Interior and gray woodgrain. 35,000km on the clock.

Just a few quick questions:

The car has a few car door marks on the sides, any recommendations for repairers in melbourne and the best way to do this? e.g. Panel Shop or Detailer, I don't really like to respray full panels.

My other questions is there anything I should be worried about and how do I find out if my car has had the Fuel pump, and other items fixed that I hear so much about?

Upgraded/Moved sidewards from a 2006 BMW Z4 3.0.

Look forward to contributing on the board and hopefully meeting up for a drive one weekend.

Andrew

Give Mr Gloss a go. Does loads of BMWs. Did my E90 recently for small dent on rear door due to idiot opening their door too quickly and denting my door in Chadstone car park. The repairer is situated in Moorrabbin. Very professional job.

Cheers

Thanks for the reply, will he be able to fix up the chips as well?

The door marks aren't dints but have chipped the paint off.

Thanks for your help.

Hey Andrew,

I'm sorry but I don't know about chips. Mr Gloss can do it all, but whether he does a full panel/door respray or a small chip repair, is something you will need to call them up to discuss.

If you are willing to take a 'chance' I saw an ad for a car repair club called schmickclub. You have to join and they then fix small chips, scratches & dents for a 'low' price. Check out their website at schmickclub.com
Cheers. David

Best wishes.

Most repairers want to respray the whole panel. If the suggestion below is not what you want there are a few products on the market for self chip repairs (see www.lanka.com). Your best bet may be a self repair using BMW touch up kit. I use that and Lanka for stones and they come up pretty well - a lot better than the chip.

Fuel pump issues have been pretty rare here. There have been some but certainly not to the extent seen in the US. I wouldn't stress about it too much. The HPFP issues in the US may be sheer weight of number or more likely related to their fuel which I recall has extra ethanol.

welcome ajolly....I would say just turn up at the dealership that the car was orig bought from and ask for the cars history, don't think they should refuse since you own it now. The only negative, do you really want to be stressed by seeing what you might not like to see about the cars history however minor, esp since the cars working perfectly for now..good luck with the door mark repair.

Thanks All, I will check out that panel shop soon.

Any recommendations for a detailer in Melbourne? Looking to complete a full detail?

Final Inspection http://www.finalinspection.com.au/ - not used them but have seen their results first hand on several occasions.
