Riu's are pretty nice resorts...Resort life gets boring quick, its better to go to places where theres life outside of the walls. I havent been, but I know Cabo has a great party scene out in the town; thought i heard there is only one all inclusive resort there, and the rest are regular hotels....I had a great time in Jamaica

Playa Del Carmen is very nice...
Lots of bars and resturants on a 3 mile street that is closed off to cars.
Not sure what youre looking for but its not as "Spring Break-ish" as Cancun (more adult).

Mexico has alot of nice areas. Also depends on your age. How old are you?

Were both 19, But not into the whole party like animals thing.

I would like a couple nights of club/lounge scene and the rest poolside/beachside thing Swim up bar etc etc.

I went to Mexico the last 2 summers with my gf and we are near the same age, also enjoyed more of a laid back vaca not the whole club scene

Did all inclusives at secrets silversands shock Is very new, awesome spot
Also stayed at excellence Riviera Maya which is consistently top all inclusive in area. It was great, not as luxurious as silversands but so much more to do, pool volleyball beach volleyball, poker tournaments everyday at noon etc
Both places u could go down by the beach or the secluded pools and be very private or u can stay by the main pool where every1 is drinking and more social of a scene, u can turn the vaca either way

Hope this helps, use cheapcarribean.com for booking, have used for years always reliable and much better pricing

+1

My family owns a timeshare in Playa Del Carmen. It's much more of a relaxed area than Cancun.

Be sure to have a meal at "El Fogon" if you end up there.
