do you have to install the solenoid bypass to run the JB+ at 100%? I just want to disconnect as fast as possible before going to the dealer...and the solenoid bypass seems a lot of work...

You can run the JB+ @100% without the solenoid bypass, did it for a while but I went ahead and did the solenoid bypass. With the bypass the turbos spool faster, and there's more power in the higher rpm's. As far as the work goes, it shouldn't take you more than 5-10 minutes to do the bypass.

....just do it on a warm motor, otherwise it might take much more!

Bring this back from the dead..... But I have a question. I had a recent ECU flash from BMW in July 2010 on my 08 335i coupe. I have a JB+ coming soon and I am concerned about throwing codes. Should I worry at all?

I had new software installed on July 20th. I've been running the JB+ at 75% at first without the bypass then with it (my opinion: do the bypass at 75% or higher. if it takes you longer than 5 minutes, you have a mental deficiency or have never opened the hood of a car, or both).
Scanned last friday in anticipation of HPFP problems (had 2 limps and 1 long crank); sure enough I had HPFP codes...noticed the JB+ also threw tuner codes. BT scan required before service (not a shocker, it is a tune, after all...). I've never had it in at the stock 50% setting so I can't comment on that.

Best part - you can pay almost any tuning shop a nominal amount (like 20 bucks I'd guess) to do the scan/delete for you (they have BT tools that work on an unlimited number of cars). It's obviously more convenient to own the BT tool yourself but certainly not strictly necessary...you can pay a shop to scan/delete a shit ton of times before it would even out to the expense of buying the 290 dollar tool yourself.

Do all the shops use BT scanners or are they better or worse? |

I've read a zillion threads on this subject and have seen tons of people say "scanned and deleted codes, went to dealer, zero problems!" - personally, I'm not worried. I'll be glad to post an update with my own experience on this subject if my HPFP would just hurry up and kick the bucket.

I had the same concerns. I have had mine in at about 2/3 power for over a month and have no issues, no lights, etc... just more power.
I bought the BT cable to be safe, but aside from hooking it up to see what I can access, I have not needed to use it.

and, to be clear, the "tuner codes" that show up will NOT, generally, cause any issues or "lights" that you'll notice. That's why it's important to scan it before going to the dealer - the codes are meant to catch people in the act of messing with their car, not to help bmw diagnose an actual problem.
