Brake Fluid Service Dealer differences in cost

My car is now 2 years old from its build date so up came the Brake Fluid service warning, although i knew it was on its way. I decided to phone around as i had read here on the forum about the differences in dealer prices.

I was a bit shocked with the differences that came up.

I live near Andover so tried the dealers local to me and on the way home down the M3.

Once i managed to get them to answer the phone - some never did which was a surpise!

Cheapest was quoted as £80.02 and the most expensive £123.00, £43 difference. If my maths serves me correct that is a 50% increase over the range of quotes i got.

So i wont be going to Scothalls at Eastliegh and am going to give Wood at Hook a go.

Cheers

Nev

Interesting post.. I need mine done. I am more than willing to pay £80 for the job. £130 sounds a bit ridiculous though by contrast.

I need to phone around.. So irritating that this is a major service item IE you need this for FBMWSH..

For those that have recently had to have their DSC units replaced under warranty or paid out of their own pockets a brake fluid change was done as part of the repair and thus would constitute your service being done.

I paid for my brake fluid service in March with the DSC failing at the end of May. In June when the DSC was repaired they told me that the brake fluid was also changed which pissed me right off especially as I had paid around £80 for the service just a few months before!

I wish someone would pay me £80 to change their brake fluid!

The fluid costs less than a tenner from a motor factors, and it only takes about an hour, even on the driveway. I reckon with the car on a ramp it could be done in about 15 or 20 minutes!
