I have the OEM BMW Battery Tender. It works very well. It is btw a re-badged marked up version of the Deltran Battery Tender. You should try to obtain one from Deltran it would be cheaper.

Does it get hooked up under the hood or in the trunk?

This Advanced Battery Charging System can help you extend the life of your battery. Simply plug the 1.25-amp charger into a standard 115-VAC wall outlet and connect the alligator clips to your terminals under the hood. The device's on-board microchip monitors and regulate the charge- virtually eliminating sulfation. It can even help extend the life of your battery.

Depends on the car. My battery is in the trunk so mine is connected in the trunk.

A simple battery tender from walmart works perfectly fine. I cycle mine between my car and motorcycle in the winter and have never had a problem.

Even if your battery is in the trunk there should be terminals under the hood.

I say look some up read some reviews and go from there. Just because it has a BMW logo doesn't make it any better
