Different profiles on rears?

I'm keen to upgrade my 17'' wheels to 19'' Star 230 types. I've seen some for sale, but the tyres are described as 225/35/19 on the fronts but 255/30/19 on the rear. Is this normal??

Thanks,

yes this is completely normal and a standard BMW size. the 30 and 35 indicate the hight of the tirewall as a percentage of the width. So a 225x35x19 has about the same height as the 255x30x19.

Aaah I see! I always thought the profile was an actual dimension in mm!

Learn something new everyday!

Thanks a lot

The sidewall aspect ratio decreases in the rear to accommodate for the wider rear tire so that the overall rolling diameter stays closest to OEM sizing.

Thanks,

I have 225/35/19 on the fronts and 255/30/19 on the rear of my Z4 it is the normal Z4 OEM sizing for my car ... for yours you need to check.
