What can I use between IP and LSP when de-swirling?
Hey all,
I'm getting ready to try my first swirl-removal job. I've read through DavidN's and Picus' great stickies on the subject, but I'm having trouble figuring out which paint-prep products work as finishing polishes to clear up the haze caused by the swirl remover (I'm planning on using Menzerna IP). I'm using Acrylic Jett as my LSP; does Werkstatt Prime have enough polishing ability to use immediately after IP (or SSR2.5/3 for that matter), or do I need something else to de-haze first? If I need something else, would it be instead of or in addition to Prime? It seems many people use ZPC or KAIO as a finishing polish, but I haven't seen anything about Prime and I don't want to end up with a half-done job stuck waiting for more product. |

Maybe I could have phrased the question better; I'm aware of FPII, but I'm really wondering if I *need* FPII or if Prime will do the job.
I might as well pick up some FPII to have on hand. I can polish with IP, then try the Prime and see if it cuts the haze. If not, I can fall back to the FPII. Would FPII be used before Prime or in addition to it? |

I had great success removing swirls with these steps: SSR3 -> IP -> FPII - > FMJ. Used the PC the whole way with Orange, White, White, Black pads (respectively). I spent extra time with the SSR3 and IP to really get as much swirl out as possible.
Good luck! |

I think both AIO and Prime are chemical cleaners and will not remove haze. You would need to use FPII or something similar to remove any hazing from the polish.

This part of the Prime blurb is what got me wondering:

Prime has abrasives, however they are very, very, very mild. It *may* help the hazing from IP a bit, but I'd bet FPII will be required before Prime. I think of Prime more as a chemical cleaner and base sealant than a polish. It's polishing abilities are very limited.
