I'm pretty sure he's not talking about actual backfire but probably that lovely burble and gurgle some of us are getting with an after market exhaust. There are several that do this such as AE (which I have & love) or I believe the BMW performance exhaust and most other high flow systems. Down pipes probably help even more...

Edit: Maybe not - just saw in the OP's sig that he has an eisenmann exhaust - does that exhaust not have the nice burble & gurgle?

Mine does this with the RPI exhaust and i still have the factory downpipes.

Every time i let off the gas the car burbles and pops slightly.. Sounds awesome
