What are the signs of a failing fuel pump?
My 335i seems to have a bit less power lately, and some hesitation during acceleration. When cold, it seems to "buck" a little bit too.
Any of these signs of a failing pump?

Mine just flat out died... I could restart it, but it would die soon after, as soon as I tried to drive. |

How many miles did you have at time of failure?
My car has 6500 mi and is now having some rough idle after cold starts. Yesterday, it lurched a bit after a semi-cold start (about 150 or 160deg - had been sitting for about 2 hours after being warm). I think I'm next... I thought I was ok since it seemed like most people's fuel pumps failed early (with less than 6500 mi). But, now I'm worried.... |

Our 335s have a notoriously rough for the first minute or two after you start them when they are cold. That happens to me even though it is 80degrees outside. I have no idea how the car performs in cold weather. If it only happens when it is cold, I believe that there is a software update that addresses this issue. If it happens when the car is warm, the fuel pump might be the issue. The dealer apparently has a simple test to tell if your pump is going bad.

Also have just noted that car idles with the vibrating then after ~ 5 min of idle in park car begins to surge as though someone is giving it gas and the tach goes up a little for a second or two then down then up then down then more vibrating on and off.. normal??

My car was build during the last week of November 2006. Is there a chance that I too got a defective pump?
