Tinting the Sunroof
When you guys got your windows tinted, did you also have the sunroof done?
Thanks. |

The area/opening is too small compared with the rest. And not sure how much
of benefit it would be. I mean if the sun is beating down on me and is bothering me, I would just close it. But I am considering it since I am going for my tints on Tuesday. |

I tinted my sunroof along with the rest of the car. Using Huper Optik film, I can now leave the sunroof open during the day, and not feel that immense heat bearing down on my bald head. Just don't get it limo tinted, as it would really make the sunroof way too dark. If anything, do a light 50 to 35% tint on it. I enjoy it, and can hardly notice the difference as far as incoming light is concerned.

Silly me, I thought the point of the moon roof was to see the moon/night sky.
This is one piece of glass on my car that I want with maximum transparency. But I guess to each his/her own. |

Thanks guys.
I never intended on getting it tinted. That's why the shade is there, as was mentioned (captain obvious, haha). I was just curious if anyone had or if it was liked/disliked. |

Actually with all the info on skin cancer it might not be too bad of an idea to have a very light tint in your sunroof. That way you could let light in and not get skin cancer.

Had mine done on my 328 with HO 30% - - it makes the driving in the middle of the day with an intense sun much more enjoyable if you want to have your shade open and keep the glass closed or just tilted open. I had a few weeks of hot weather in my previous ride (2006 325 - had to be replaced by dealer) and felt more heat through the sunroof than I cared for - but I like to have the shade pulled back. I have no regrets and to anyone in a climate with intense overhead sun I think you would like it.

Doesn't strike me as a particularly bad idea to tint with a high heat/UV rejecting metallized or ceramic film. I'd still want to keep it as "light" as possible, but cutting down the heat and UV probably would increase the level of comfort.
