Rooney WTF?
I know not many "soccer" fans here but for the footballers, what do you make of the latest Rooney saga..i follow Man U until Leeds gets back into the Prem, first the guy comes out of nowhere to say he will NOT sign a new contract..then he says Man U isn't dedicated to the future...then Sir Alex Ferguson confirms he wont sign a new contract, then today...he signs a FIVE year contract saying that Man U is totally committed to the future...
What do you make of this otherwise unbelievable turnaround.. 1) He and Ferguson were using it as a diversion from the Rooney/Hooker escapade 2) He signed the contract so that Man U could sell him without worrying that he'd leave Bosman style 3) Rooney's just a nut, got all worried that Man U wasnt going to splash cash on big signings and then SAF concinced him they would 4) something else? I'm baffled... |

So you are a Red for life then!
The only club who were willing to sign him was City and we all know what a joke they are, Rooney probably signed that 5 year contract pretty sharpish when he found that out! |

Rumors lately are that this was generated by the Agent..trying to scare Man U into giving him the type of money he got. Possibly this is true as Rooney went around and saw what kind of money some players are getting in those richey teams...players lesser than he.
But i kind of find it not totally convincing...i mean he's getting so much money from endorsements and whatnot, can he possibly be that greedy?-even potentially pissing off the man u faithful? Maybe he's just a dolt, wanted to be sure of vying for trophies, felt Man u cannot spend like City and Chelsea, got all worried, then was convinced by fergie and the owners... |

I don't think it happened over the course of a day. I think his agent secretly shopped him around weeks before this and all the big clubs said no, except City!!
Another possible reason which isn't made public but is known to some of the locals is that him and his wife just had their dream home built in Prestbury, they spent millions buying an old property, tearing it down, going through all the planning permissions and having the new one built. All over the period of the last couple years. Mrs Shrek does not want to leave her new castle so that means he plays for United or City! |

LOL...i started out watching Leeds because they had so much young english talent back in the day before they were relegated...my favorite player is Alan Smith (now not appearing for Toon), then he was sold to Man U, bitter rivals with Leeds, but as i'm not english i went with the flow and got hooked on watching Man U and have been following them ever since...only team i really despise is Arsenal..Chelsea are annoying as well..

Yeah Smith never really lived up to expectations.
As a United fan I am eternally grateful to Leeds for Eric Cantona, what a steal he was. Probably my favourite player at Old Trafford, typical Frenchman cocky as hell. Just loved the way he shrugged his shoulders or stood still looking around after he scored, drove the other teams fans wild! |
