Bought my last 3 cars from them. Very professional place. Make sure you work them though. I have been told by my CA that they don't move too much on their cars because they sell so many. I keep going back to them because of their customer service. Shop around and do your homework. E90 post is your best resource IMO. Wish I knew about this before I pulled the trigger on my E92 though.

Worked with a guy named Kurt. Great guy. If you want to talk with him, tell him Jason sent you. I felt like he always worked with me and kept me updated.

I've been seeing a lot of Motor Werks cars on the road by my area though, and ive been in the market for this e92 328xi, and they just happened to have it.
2007 e92 328xi 10k CPO - $29,900 i'm also wondering how much i should shoot for. and with the deals going on for 08's and 09's im not sure if the overall pricing would be relatively close. makes me wonder if i should just get it new. |

For the most part. That place generates so much money they don't have to lower prices much. That being said, since it is a CPO, they may work with you a little. Shop around online and see what that car is going for. That is probably the best advice.

I went to a few delearships and they never gave me the time of day. I am 30 years old and when I went in to look at $50K+ cars, nobody ever gave me the time of day. Really pissed me off. They thought I was to young and couldn't afford that type of car. Motorwerks never made me feel that way. I test drove every car you could imagine over there. It is just a matter of opinion. My dad hates that place, for example.

Patrick and Anderson did the same to me. After about 20 minutes standing there I went up to someone and asked THEM for help. Told them I was looking at a 3 series. They said, both of them, "Well, that is an expensive car. We have other cars that you maybe interested in." So I told them no, drove away in my buddies 911 turbo. Bastards!

You would think but I am not sure how places like MotorWerks are effected. I know Porsche sales are down over there but not sure about anything else. A lot of high rollers go into that place.

true.. i'm planning on purchasing this vehicle and keeping it a LONG time. and i know when purchasing a car (especially used) you need to be very patient, but its been VERY difficult to find this particular vehicle/ set up by our area. especially a CPO. so whenever i see one, i try to jump on it when i get the chance.

I have had nothing but consistantly bad experiences at Motorowerks. I live less than 2 miles from Motorwerks and go out of my way to provide Patrick my business. Here is my experience in a snapshot:
Moved back to the area after 3 years in FL in 2002. Brought my e46 in for service only to have the same problem not-fixed multiple times. I insisted that there was a software glitch causing my car to hesitate and they said no. Discussion was heated by the third time. During this third visit they said there was a service bulletin, they updated the software, no issue since then. Rude service manager. 2005 I'm ready to buy a new e90. I didn't even try Motorwerks. I went to Patrick had a great sales person, bought the car and since have had great relationships with the service department. We also brought our Honda Pilot (since sold) into MW for service - which we did not buy at MW because of the above. I don't recall when exactly I brought it in but it was sometime between 2005 and 2007. Same rude service. We never went back with that vehicle either. Again we traveled out of our way to Rohrman Honda in Schaumburg. Today, out of convenience, I stopped into MW to pick up a thermostat for my 93 318iS. Parts manager was pretty rude. While the parts manager went to get the thermostat I glanced at the screen. Retail was approx $44 and cost was approx 22. I asked for the BMWCCA discount. He tells me to go to pay at the cashier and I can pick up the parts when I return. The cashier has my invoice retail is listed as $62 and my cost (BMW CCA discount) is $44. Needless to say was not not happy. I went back to parts and told him I wasn't buying any of the parts as the markup was outrageous. To me the dealer is all about the service experience and MW doesn't have service. Your call on whether you go to them, but I spoke with my wallet. They lost 2 new car sales because of their lack of service. In fact I didn't even give them an opportunity to get the sale.

Somewhat sorry to resurrect an old thread... but I had a bad experience with Motorwerks service the other day.
I went to have a part replaced. I knew the replacement is a bit tricky, which is why I didn't do it myself. They quoted an hour of labor, which seemed high to me but possibly reasonable. The SA said the design of the part was bad, and I knew this to be true. So, I agreed to Well, since they have windows to the service bays, I watched... * They didn't pull my car into the bay for an hour - OK, stuff happens, no biggie * The part was replaced in about 10 minutes. * The tech walks away and the car stays up on the lift for about 15 minutes with no one around (At this point, I'm thinking he needs more help or a part or something along those lines. At the time, I didn't realize he had already completed work) * The tech returns to the car and it comes off the lift with no more work done, and I can see the part is replaced and working from my vantage point. So, now I wait another 15 minutes in the upstairs waiting room, thinking I'll be paged to come claim the car - they give you one of those restaurant-style pagers (which is nice). Nope, nothing. OK, I figure it's a big place, it takes a while for the paperwork to circulate. I wait a few more minutes, then: * I walk outside, and sure enough, there's my car ready for pickup. OK, I'm sure the SA will be right along with the paperwork. So I hang out in the cashier's office. For *another* 25 minutes. I finally lose my patience (the car's been sitting in my sight for 25 minutes and it was done 40-45 minutes before that) and walk over to the cashier and she's nice and tells me that no, she hasn't paged me yet but lo and behold, she just then got my paperwork. OK, great, hey, WTF, they're still charging an hour for labor? F that. Seriously. So I get the SA manager to come around and tell him that I could see that they spent only 15 minutes - TOPS - on my car and I'm not paying the equivalent of a $600 hourly rate for that. He's bitchy about it, but he takes the paperwork and "investigates." 10 minutes later, he comes back and offers to cut the labor significantly, and I agree to that, even though frankly it's too much still. So, congratulations Motorwerks, you took a 15 minute job, tried to make it look like it was longer, and tried to bill for it to boot - plus you didn't even start work until an hour after my appointment. Wasted my time and had their hands on my wallet at the same time. Hey guys, I'm not paying your tech to take a dump or smoke break - especially while I'm waiting for the car. Maybe you should frost out those windows to the service bay... Oh well, they don't call them stealerships for nothing! OK, that's off my chest - rant mode off. |

1.5 years after my post in this same thread I still won't go near these guys. I'm thinking about selling my Audi for yet another BMW in my drive. I'm keeping a close eye on the 1 series M and could see one in my driveway. If I take the plunge that will be three new car sales that MW has lost from me in the last 8 years because of their service department.

I really enjoyed the sales/finance experience at MW (Irv was great). Unfortunately the service experience has been less than stellar. Most of it is just simple stuff like washing the car when I told them not to, picking up my car and the seat is practically up against the steering wheel, rudeness or lack of caring, etc.
I'm going to give them one more chance to take care of a few minor issues. If they don't do a better job, I'll probably use Anderson Motors in the future, which is much closer to me. From what I've heard, I shouldn't expect anything better out of them, but at least I won't have to drive 1.5 hours round trip to get to them. Last edited by PsychoSlug; 10-27-2010 at 03:06 PM.. |
