driver training at Eastern Creek
attended a BMW driver training day at Eastern Creek today. it was a blast!!!
the day had a combination of activities including motorkana on a wet skid pan, emergency braking, some track time in several cars (inc an M3) plus a few hot laps at the finish. for those who are interested and have the opportunity to attend this sort of event, I highly recommend it. however it's not an event for outright speed and you must drive the supplied vehicles, so if you want to thrash your own car round a track then look elsewhere. but it is a great chance to sample some incredible machinery with top notch drivers watching over you. I had planned to take a bunch of photos but got distracted enjoying myself ![]() nontheless I've got a few that give a feel for the day. I also managed to grab a lift with a colleague who's just collected a LCI 335i coupe with a few performance goodies, made the trip that much more enjoyable after a 5am start from Canberra! anyway the highlight was getting to drive a few laps of Eastern Creek at the wheel of a 2010 M3 coupe. I thought my 335 was fast enough but after that experience I am wondering what it would take to get myself into an M ![]() pic 1 - sunrise on the Hume after a 5am departure ![]() pic 2- so many bimmers in the carpark must be a good sign??? ![]() pic 3 - motorkana in a 125i was great fun, they are so chuckable compared to a 3 ![]() pic 4 - OMG so many current spec M3s in one place (there were 8) ![]() pic 5 - about to take off for laps of the circuit (end of photos, got distracted after this) ![]() pic 6 - checking out the new twin-scroll turbo setup on the LCI 335i we we drove up, for interest only... ![]() |

Gawdd that looks like good fun!
Was it a complementary course? Cause I know you can buy spots for over a grand... 1.5 I think. And who would want to thrash their own car when BMW supplies you with M3s! haha.. |

![]() but fair call re Wakefield, have taken previous cars (99 Integra Type R and 03 WRX) round there and had a fantastic time. the big difference with the BMW program is the instruction from Geoff Brabham and the fleet of brand new top spec cars that you get to drive. also the first time I have driven the creek, a nice flowing circuit compared to others I have driven... BTW found a low quality shot on the phone of an M3 at the end of a drift, sorry for the poor quality but you get the idea ![]() ![]() |
