Smile My brown box arrived!

I ordered this last week and wasn't really expecting it until next week some time...

It made my day

Anyone have any suggestions about where to get it installed and how much? I have one number so far, but just want to call around a bit to see whats best.

hahah, well it won't be a video of the car moving... far too slow and boring.

Indeed - for 4 cylinders though

potentially yes, but I think I need a new gasket for the flange connection bit. It's not on RealOEM yet so unfortunately I can't get an exploded view and idea of what other small bits and pieces I need to install it. I've looked at the explosion of the stock system and I just assume it would be the same gasket + mounts. Are the gaskets and mounts re-usable? I assume the rubber mounts should be okay but would I need a new gasket?

Judging by the inlet pipe I'd say thats damn close to OEM (there is no gains to be had in using a larger diameter pipe over that short a distance anyway, so whilst I know absolutely nothing about 320i's, I'd be pretty confident in guessing the existing bolts, hangers and gasket will match up perfectly (happy to be corrected though)

make sure is properly installed to sound like this,
which is the same BMW OEM performance exhaust installed by Schmiedmann on a e90 318i..so reckon should sound great on your 320i..also check with Schmiedmann for some installation tips for best sound and fitting as in video since they have done it before already

I don't have a video camera! And the video function of my still camera probably won't be any good at recording sound.

It sounds fantastic in the video! It seems like the sound is clearer and raspier than the performance exhaust for the six. I'm looking forward to hearing it in person on the 28th Nov drive day.

Well it is an OEM part so I would hope it fits perfectly!

I got it from schmiedmann.com - a Danish site. I have'nt installed it yet, but I have been told it is direct bolt on as it is an OEM part made for this vehicle. The main problem was that all the sites in the USA don't stock this part as they don't have 4 cylinder models. BMminiparts didn't stock it either despite being Euro based. I also got prices from a couple of other places, but decided to gamble on this site. http://www.schmiedmann.com/3_series/...ng.htm#1935320

I was a bit apprehensive at first, mainly because I hadn't really ordered anything from overseas before and this would be an expensive first trial should the site have been dodgy. I only found a few comments about the site, most people in the USA are not aware of it. The comments were positive though and the prices are actually very decent. I was also a bit unsure about the "out of stock - 12 days" but I assumed this meant, "you order - we order + receive - then ship to you." This was certainly the case, and it took only a week for them to receive it and ship it. I ordered it last week on Tuesday (the 26th) and it arrived this week on Thursday (4th). Shipping was spot on 3 days to Australia. I thought this was a bit optimistic as I'm still waiting on some GP Thunders from the USA which were ordered way before this. I wasn't expecting the exhaust until this coming week at the earliest. All in all, very happy with the site! I do recommend it fully. Total cost was ~820 or something.

The video sound is alright, but looking around on youtube, different videos have different sounds. So until I install it and hear it in person I cannot comment on which one it sounds closest to. Here comes a video overload!!!! Common in all is the raspier sound like you mentioned. To me they are all subtly different though. To be honest, I don't really mind the stock sound. It is fairly rorty and actually sufficiently loud down low for my liking. Has anyone else noticed how 320i-s make quite a bit of exhaust sound down low? Higher revs, and it has nothing an in I6 though. I was thinking about deleting the midsilencer too, but it is quite small anyway and I fear I will be pushing the barrier between nice sound and ricey cannon. Also kind of defeats the purpose of me choosing OEM.. could have just gone custom all the way.

All the videos sounded pretty good to me. I think the mic placement probably accounts for a lot of the differences in sound. I expect the muffler to be a decent increase in sound level although you can't really tell from the videos. It will be interesting to hear.
