Is it just me or is the fit slightly dodgy in that centre pic?

Nice one. I like it!

I couldn't really notice any problem with the fit. The fit seems very good in the center part around the kidney grill which is important. Maybe the fit with the fenders is not quite as perfect, but it still looks good to me.

Seems to match pretty well.

I think the tie tied number plate looks a bit crude and personally I think it would look better in the normal spot leaving your lower air intake clear.

PS: What do you have over your rear view mirror?

Yeah, probably just the angle - in that photo at the leading edge of the bonnet it looks like the gap is smaller as you move from the grill to the headlight yet it looks great on the left side view.

The number plate is presumably temporarily there? Double sided tape is your friend to avoid drilling the new bar.

Are you planning on upgrading the wheels?

I know you don't want to screw into your brand new bumper to fit the number plate, but where it is now takes away from the big M3 mouth that we love.

Using double side tape is an option. I wouldn't go to wide or strong for that matter because you won't get it off if you need to replace or change the palate.

I have used 3M automotive tape before to re-fit body moulds on a another car I own. That stuff is so strong. Panelbeater had to remove body moulds to respray an area behind the rear wheels due to burnout scratches/damage. In the end, he had to use piano wire to get it off which kept breaking, all the while he was screaming at me because it was a bitch of a job to get the moulds off. Yes, he did scratch the paint underneath in the process.

I would use just a small strip, maybe 50mm long, of an average double sided tape.
  • Make sure it is grey/black in colour.
  • Bend the number plate to follow the bend on the front surface of the bumper. This will make sure the plate, sits in parallel to the bumper surface, not coming in touch with it or scratching it.
  • Fit the strips of double sided tape vertically to either end of the number plate and fit plate to the bar.
This should be enough as the plate is only light and does not have significant load trying to pull it off the bumper.
