Tpms
Anybody know if I get a set of wheels without the sensors is there a way to disable the warning light that will come on but still have it be capable of showing other error messages...

i asked the dealer cause i have the same deal and they told me theres nothing to do about it. but you can get the tpms from tire rack or discount tire for about 75.00 each and youll have to have the dealer program them to your car.

No, I had the TPMS Error on for 6 months before I got fed up with it and put the TPMS back in w/ new tires. I wish there was a way...
Macht Schnell makes a system that sends out the frequency to your sensors...but it carries a high price tag...something like $250 or something. |

It is illegal for any manufacturer or dealer to disable a Federally mandated safety device or system.
There is another issue to consider in that deactivating a safety system may be considered tampering with the vehicles safety systems and result in warranty issues. |

No cb1111 is right. FTM measures the rotation size of the tire. If it becomes smaller, due to lose of pressure, the flat tire light is tripped. TPMS actually monitors the pressure in each tire. It is a more sensitive system.
Like cb1111 said, the dealer just reset your system. Putting different wheels on tripped your FTM because they are different size wheels/tires....thus they have different rotational size. |

I bought wheels from another member here who had TMPS and the metal valve stems/sensors in the wheels....they serve no purpose on my car. If anything they are added weight. Go to you car and go to FTM in iDrive (if you have it)....you don't have TMPS. If you had TMPS you would be able to see pressures for each tire. |

Acuras had them in 2005, but most Europeans didn't have them until they were mandated by the TREAD act. http://www.nhtsa.gov/cars/rules/ruli...nal/index.html |
