Engine Malfunction: Reduced power Light Question...

so i drove back from vegas to LA and about 3 miles away from home..the engine malfunction with reduced power light came on...it was about 4 and a half hour drive total...

I averaged about 85 mph and engine temp was just below 250 degrees...outside temp ranged from high 50s to low 70s if that matters..

i thought this would happen if engine temp went above 250 but it was just below and when i took off from a redlight, it just came on...i turned off then on my car and it went away..i dont really notice any difference BUT is this something i should get checked out? or can i just ignore it? I hope my sensors arent boggy...

thanks for any input!

if you are STOCK take it to the dealer. means something is wrong with the car. Maybe missfires or HPFP going out.

I had the exact same thing happened to me recently. I also thought it was the hpfp. But after I had the codes pulled, it was actually the Exhaust Vanos Solenoid that threw the codes. Vanos Solenoids are fairly common problems in N54 motor. If you car is still under warranty, bring it to the dealer. If not, bring it to an independent BMW repair facility to have them pull the codes to identify the exact problem. Good luck.
