UUC DSSR + BMW SSK = No Dice!

So I took the UUC SSK off when i had BMW do a clutch under warranty and i left the DSSR on because it was it bitch to take off. So I decided to buy a BMW 330i SSK and tried it with the UUC DSSR and it doesnt work. It shifts fine, but once you start moving the DSSR gets in the way of the drive shaft and it scrapes a little bit when you shift into 2,4,6 gear. I guess I will revert to the stock select rod and put the 330i SSK on. I don't think anyone has tries this combo, so FYI it will NOT work!!! I guess you could grind away at the DSSR and drive shaft a little bit and it works, but what happens when you go over a speed bump in 2nd,4th, or 6th gear. I don't plan on finding out.

Why not just put your UUC SSK back on?

I don't know why you would think it would work. The UUC parts are specific to each other.....NOT BMW, RE, or B&M....

The OEM shifter and the UUC DSSR work just fine together. It's a pain to take the DSSR on and off, thats why I wanted to try the DSSR + BMW SSK.

Because there was too much slop in the shifting IMO.

You're the second person I've heard say that about their UUC kit. I guess I just got lucky because mine is super tight.

It's the spacing between the Clevis, which would lead me to believe it's with the DSSR. It is apparent when you see how easily the UUC SSK busing fits in the clevis. Trying to get the stock BMW shifter was much harder because the spacing was narrower. I've always heard good things about UUC, but I was not happy with this setup. The slop was completely gone with the stock shifter + the UUC DSSR.

Why not contact UUC and tell them what you are experiencing? If a part has failed they should replace it. I would hope their customer support is cognizant of how fast bad press spreads on the internet.

Whatever you do, don't go grinding your drive shaft - it'll throw it off balance and probably cause a vibration...

I would never touch the drive shaft, I might consider shaving some of the DSSR though. I need to see how bad it's touching. I believe it's about 1/8" (probably less) or so. I also took out the CDV....wow, I thought all the crappy shifting was me the whole time. Night and day difference. that should be everyones first mod. The 1st to 2nd shifts is no where near as notchy, especially in the cold weather.

Just a small thing, but I was under the impression that the OP has a 335i, which requires a different SSK kit to the 330i? Is it possible then that if he used the right kit it might work with his DSSR?

The 330 is compatible with the 335, but not when you have the UCC DSSR. Same thing happened to me.
