Hey all,
Been reading the posts for a while, but finally decided to join up and say hello! I'm driving a 2009 E92 325 - Black, M Sport package I've also been a keen reader on the mods posts, especially importing parts from overseas. Being new to this though, I was wondering that even if you import say an exhaust from o/s, where is the best place to get it installed? I don't mind doing simple DIY stuff, but that would be a bit out of my league... Any thoughts for places in Sydney? Cheers |

Welcome!
Any decent exhaust shop should be able to install an exhaust for you. Depends if you trust you're local mechanic, or would like to take it to a BMW dealer. What part of Sydney are you coming in? Feel free to introduce yourself at one of two upcoming sydney events: Sunday 21st Nov - Photoshoot. Location & Time TBA Sunday 28th Nov - Drive Day. Location TBA but will be starting around 9am and lasting a few hours I imagine. |

Hey guys,
Thanks for the replies and the invite, unfortunately I'll actually be out of Sydney on leave at the time for the meetup, so maybe next time! In terms of location, I'm in the inner west around Camperdown - any good exhaust places around there? I'm thinking of importing the BMW Performance exhaust and Air Intake combo, but don't think I can install the exhaust on my own. Dealership I bought from (North Shore BMW) didn't seem to be too helpful on the Performance mods (which I thought was odd), but has anyone else come across the same thing? |

They should be fine with the intake (as they sell it themselves!!), but exhaust is not ADR tested/approved. I think John_01 has the intake on his 325i, maybe ask him about where + how he had it done. As for the exhaust, it is highly unlikely that a BMW dealership will install it, especially if it is a main Germany owned dealer. With my bolt on rear silencer BMW Sydney wouldn't install it, but the guys were actually helpful in trying to provide info about gaskets, mounts and other miscellaneous parts. They actually seemed pretty keen and interested in the part. Because mine was bolt on, it was easily done at the side of the road by a BMW Syd mechanic (in his down time.)
